The renowned tuning firm Startech has unveiled a new body kit for the 2022 Tesla Model Y. This development means that enthusiasts will soon have the option to purchase custom parts for this well-known EV and give it a distinctive appearance.
Customizing a Tesla is often a challenging task, which can be frustrating for dedicated car enthusiasts. Just the other day, for instance, we saw a standard Model Y outclass a brand-new Genesis GV70 equipped with a twin-turbo V6. While the Model Y’s performance easily outpaces its competitors, its design feels as generic as an iPhone.

To address this, Startech has introduced new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and commonly upgraded parts such as wheels and suspension. These additions are eye-catching, especially for those familiar with the Model Y’s design, but they don’t drastically alter its overall aesthetic.
Startech is actually a subsidiary of Brabus, a legendary tuner of AMG vehicles. Referring to them as mere “tuners” feels inadequate since they often transform entire car bodies, engines, and interiors. Vehicles like the Brabus G800 or Rocket 900 regularly exceed $500,000 in cost. Ever heard of Brabus?

When I started my career in journalism, Startech focused exclusively on Land Rover and Jaguar models. They created unique versions of the Range Rover, including 6×6 configurations and pickups. However, since British models didn’t gain much traction, the company branched out and began catering to Tesla importers in Europe.
In 2020, Startech customized the Tesla Model 3, and now they’ve turned their attention to its crossover sibling. One of the standout features is the redesigned front bumper, which incorporates a faux grille design. At the back, they’ve added a diffuser and a trunk spoiler, with an option for a second spoiler on the upper trunk area.
Pricing details are primarily available for the European market, but with shipping included, the cost of these four main components is estimated to be around $5,000.

Additionally, Startech offers upgrades like unique seat covers, an Alcantara roof lining, a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster—features absent in standard Tesla models. However, these enhancements might require specialized installation, as they aren’t easy to fit by just any mechanic.
For those seeking further customization, Startech also provides options for custom taillights and 22-inch wheels. While these additions are appealing, the body kit remains the focal point. Some Model Y owners may also appreciate the digital gauges, as the absence of visible speed and radio controls can feel disorienting. As for me, I like the way this Tesla Model Y looks with this body kit from Startech.
