The Hyundai Tucson refuses to fade into the crowd of typical cars on the road. This Hyundai Tucson has undergone a transformative touch, courtesy of a widebody kit from Prior Design, a well-known name in the European car customization scene.

Prior Design envisioned a bold makeover for the Tucson, introducing an aggressive package that amplifies the Korean vehicle’s futuristic aesthetic. This bold move is particularly noteworthy, given that most Tucsons sold in Europe boast less than 200 horsepower. To intensify its presence, the German tuners incorporated quad exhaust pipes, lending the compact SUV an assertive stance reminiscent of rivals like the Hyundai Kona N or Cupra Ateca.

What about prices?

The metamorphosis kicked off with a dynamic front bumper characterized by striking lines and aerodynamic accents. While retaining much of the original Hyundai plastic, the bumper now features an augmented air diffuser/splitter, available separately for €495. For an additional €270, front frames can be ordered, encircling the Tucson’s lower headlight modules and creating a visual effect akin to aero scoops.

Side skirts, a popular tuning component, find their place on the Tucson just below the doors, presenting an option for €595. However, the true star of this kit is the fender flares of the widebody kit. Comprising multiple parts tailored to wrap around distinct body panels and allow seamless door operation, this comprehensive element comes with a price tag of €2,270.

Moving to the rear of the car, Prior Design introduces three distinct tuning components. The bottom of the bumper is adorned with a substantial diffuser, available for €495. Ascending, the trunk lid features a lower spoiler priced at €405, positioned just above the taillight strip, complemented by an additional €440 spoiler at the roof level.

It’s worth noting that these components can be individually ordered. For instance, some may opt solely for the widebody kit to evoke an off-roader/overland aesthetic without the racing splitters. Alternatively, due to budget considerations, Tucson owners might choose only the front spoiler along with the diffuser.

Side

The showcased Tucson, serving as Prior’s demonstration vehicle, flaunts aftermarket wheels that appear wider than the stock, capitalizing on the fender flares. There’s a possibility of a new coil suspension having been installed, contributing to the vehicle’s distinctive stance.

In total, you’re looking at an investment of €4,960 to give your Tucson this distinctive look, and that doesn’t even factor in the cost of wheels and tires, which could add another €1,500. Would you be willing to spend this amount to give your family car a unique twist? Perhaps not, but if you’re browsing a Hyundai dealership, a personalized SUV like this could be an appealing option.

Regrettably, the Prior Design kit won’t enhance the Tucson’s speed. The swiftest variants of this vehicle are the HEV (hybrid) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid), boasting 230 and 265 horsepower, respectively. Despite these figures, with 0 to 62 mph acceleration times of 8 seconds or more, they fall short of competing with the 300-horsepower crossovers in this category, many of which hail from the VW group.

I guess such Hyundai Tuscon with widebody from Prior Design could be a cool show stopper. Because such compact SUV attracts almost all attention on the streets. Of course it’s not DJ Tiesto’s Rolls Royce Cullinan from Mansory, but it looks really awesome.
