Everybody knows about hot hatches and their phenomen. But I guess it would be a mistake to write down Audi RS3 in this list. Because it’s absolutelly different class in all meanings. Volkswagen Golf is the hot hatch. But RS3, A45 AMG and else a few models are a supercars which still are looking as hatchbacks. We will call them super hatchbacks. So, let’s watch what is Audi RS3 and its tuning in real life.

Even in this short list of super hatchbacks Audi RS3 is unique and the only one such. All because here is installed 5-cylinder engine. It’s not usual solution now. Audi has a few models with such R5 more due to manufacturer’s traditions. Most part of competitors have 4-cylinder 2-liter engines. But else 1 cylinder and additional displacement gives not only a little more power, better reliability, but else really awesome and unique exhaust sound.

If you didn’t know, R5 sounds almost like V10 in Lamborghibi, Audi R8, BMW M5 E60. So, Audi RS3 is a chance to get cool exhaust sound, almost like on F1, for much less money.

But you can say that a half of cylinders gives a half of power. And you are wrong! :-) Yes, from factory you get much less power than on Lambo or R8. But this site is about tuning (mostly). Reassembling of engine, more hard clutches and your RS3 will destroy almost all supercars.

After tuning for $50k these compact hatchbacks and sedans get really serious power. And it’s not a joke. They go like a hell.

If you want to build a really fast car but else you want a sleeper – you may watch on RS3, after engine and transmission tuning you would drive a real super hatchback. And almost nobody wouls understand what your car can. Because almost everybody would see just basic Audi. Some people would see RS3 badge, but even they wouldn’t knot that you need less that 2 seconds for 0-60mph.

Previous gemeration had the only one fail – poor interior. Actual model looks much better inside. And probably it’s the last such super hatchback from Audi. Because the next generation can be electric.
